Leaderwork Introduced
The Leaderwork concept was created by Dr Deb in her PhD. Hann, D (2007) Lawyers Practising Learning. Leaderwork is closely aligned to supra-work. If you are interested download her thesis by clicking the download button on this page.
We are all leaders. Everyone in a team, family, community contributes. But Leadership is claimed by those in formal authority. Because of this many people do not reach their potential in their own lives. Especially the people pleasers amongst us. Instead we allow others to define our self worth. Leaderwork is about a fundamental change of focus as you step up and take charge of your own life decisions and your own work.

How Horses Help
When you are present with a horse you are more self aware. In charge of how you choose to interact with the horse. Are you afraid? confident? unsure? calm?
Horses only care if you can:
-
be in the present moment with them
-
tune into what is happening in your shared environment.
-
step up to be their leader and make them feel safe.
Our Leaderwork coaching method encourages you to tap onto these insights into how your behaviour is perceived by a horse. These insights are invaluable as you work on recovering your own self worth and power. When a horse is drawn to you it is acknowledging your personal effectiveness. When it walks away or turns it back the opposite is occuring,

Taking charge means that you can claim the value of your own work even if those who have authority for example, your manager, chooses not to recognise the value of your contribution. This dilemma is faced by many professionals who find themselves doing leadership work which is not validated or rewarded. In fact for some it is actively shunned by their manager or partner.
Our Leaderwork coaching method requires active participation with our horses as a starting point to your empowerment. This method enables a person to tune into their environment without the clutter of professional work responsibilities.
Leaderwork Skills Applied
We have worked with hundreds of people who work as professionals and team leaders who use leadership skills every day. Yet whose leadership work is not validated by their profession and/or workplace. The language of leaderwork enables us to reframe our work, our skills and behaviour and celebrate and articulate our progress in our professional development. Equally important is that disabled peoples' skills are often not adequately recognised. Our Leaderwork coaching empowers all people.
Leaderwork Skills
Having understood leaderwork and how it feels and what it means to be working better on your own initiaitve a person can reimagine or reframe their worth to themselves and also their workplace, family and community.
Finally we are in charge of deciding what we are doing in our own lives. We can aim to do better in our work , leisure and relationships without allowing others to undermine us. Or more importantly without undermining ourselves.
Life Enhancing Skills
By reframing our work and life skills in the context of what we are doing well and what we want to do better we can take charge of our next steps in life. We can also gain important insights into how anothers' behaviour or attitude can adversely affect our work performance.
Likewise we can gain a deeper appreciation of those parts of ourselves that hold us back. Thus we are replenished and able to go forward in our lives with less resistance. And more hope.
